Beneficiaries of We Remember Submariners Donations

St Mary’s Hospice

Peter and Nicky Fisher called into St Mary's to share lovely news. They have selflessly worked to raise over £8,500 for the We Remember Submariners (WRS) by selling their special badges. Each badge sold represents a year and each red poppy - a submarine lost in that year (1916) and the gold poppies represent serving and ex serving members lost in 2016. The WRS generously then donate a percentage of this to local charities and Peter and Nicky poignantly selected St Mary's, Sea Cadets and the Barrow British Legion to benefit.

Peter explained: "We chose St Mary's (where we are proud to share his wife Nicky works) as Barrow is the only place in the UK that builds submarines and some ex servicemen and dock yard personnel are now using St Mary's services." Thanks to Peter and Nicky's efforts and the WRS we can help keep these services free for patients their families. Thank you!

Ladies go Homeless for Combat Stress

GirlsgoHomeless

On Friday 5th May 2017 our chairman Nigel Mellor attended the families Centre at RAF Halton to meet up with the team of ladies that had been sleeping out overnight to raise awareness and funds for the Charity Combat Stress.

He presented the ladies with a cheque for a substantial sum, to assist them in raising over £4,000 pounds for Combat stress.

Combat stress is an amazing Charity which supports Ex-serviceman who need help in overcoming psychological injuries caused whilst serving their Country.

We are pleased to have supported this cause as we know a number of submariners have used this group in the past.
