Use of this site requires cookies (small text files saved on your computer or mobile device), which improves the usability of this website, and facilitates logging in to the site:
  • A cookie if JavaScript is enabled on your browser.
  • Additional cookies if you log in - this remembers who you are and allows you to stay logged in for a short period.
  • A cookie to acknowledge that you have accepted the use of cookies.

If you create an account your name and photo will be visible to other logged in users - it will also appear alongside any posts or comments you make. All other information (address, service details etc) is only visible to WRS Administrators and yourself.

We need to store minimal Service details only to validate that you are (or have been) a UK Submariner. We do not use this information for any other purpose.

Your address is required so that orders and membership/memorial pins can be processed.

The only information we store about you is as visible to you in your own user account. If you delete your account, the only information remaining is the User ID number allocated by the system. However, the website is backed up regularly and previous information is stored securely (encrypted) in an offline archive for up to 3 years.

We also capture IP addresses anonymously. This is purely to prevent malicious attacks in case we need to block specific IP addresses.

ReCaptcha

ReCAPTCHA is that tickbox you sometimes have to check when submitting a form online, and has been used within this website (although currently turned off). Due to EU laws, it's the reason you usually have to accept cookies with the pop-up window when first using the website. It's not meant to annoy you, but you need to be aware that Google may capture information about you when using this website. Whilst it means offering up more of your info to another US-based company, it's really effective at blocking out potentially malicious users or bots, ultimately keeping your data safe. Currently, ReCaptcha is not implemented directly on this website, but you will see it on the 'Worldpay' payment system.

Google's consent policy within the EU: https://www.google.com/about/company/user-consent-policy/ and if you want to know what Google does with your personal and system information, please review https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en-GB
