Membership Code of Conduct

Code of conduct for We Remember Submariners members.

Members of We Remember Submariners are committed supporters and ambassadors for the charity, its mission, the wider UK Submarine Service and Submariners in general.  With this comes the responsibility to represent the charity and its aims in a positive light.  The purpose of this document is to provide a code of conduct for members as a guide to ensure the high standards of the charity and its reputation are maintained.

Respect

Members of We Remember Submariners are expected to behave in a respectful manner to everyone whilst representing the charity at events, online or within any other public media – respecting diversity, different roles and the management/governance boundaries, and avoiding giving offence.  Members are expected to behave in a way which does not bring the charity into disrepute.

Selflessness

Members of We Remember Submariners have a general duty to act in the best interests of We Remember Submariners as a whole. They should not do so in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, their friends or another organisation they come from or represent.

Integrity

We Remember Submariner members should not place themselves under any financial or other obligation to outside individuals or organisations that might seek to influence them during the term of their membership; as well as avoiding actual impropriety.

Openness

We Remember Submariners members should ensure that confidential material, including material about individuals, is handled in accordance with GDPR.

Honesty

We Remember Submariners members must make relevant declarations of interest in the different circumstances and roles they play both within and outside of We Remember Submariners.

Timely Payment of Dues

Members are expected to pay membership dues or any other monies owed to the charity in a timely manner and in full.  If members have difficulty in paying money owed to the charity, they should contact the Chairman as soon as practicable.

Resignation of Membership

A member may by notice in writing to the Chairman resign from the We Remember Submariners after payment of any sum due from that member in respect of subscription.
